An alternative way to create an OPC is to actually log in to an existing computer; a so called remote controlling of a computer.
Log Me In: Remote Access has created a userfree way to log into a computer by the internet. After creating an account, add the computer you are sitting at to your list of computers that are controlable. Go to another computer, at home, at work, etc. and log into the computer by typing a chosen password.
The use is very comfortable. A little screen shows the remote controlled computer screen. A full-screen function lets you almost forget that you are sitting at a another computer. The opdating speed is good, and most important of all: It’s so easy to use.
Only thing that can be acclaimed is no sound: To transmit the sound too, you must buy a opgrade to Log Me In Pro.
The idea of having a specific browser to be used in the OPC project is to be able to download programs to an OOS and hereby install programs on an OPC server. Until now I haven’t found any OOS that supports this feature and therefor you could do the trick as descripd.
Therefor I will also recommend and review different browsers that I find useful for this purpose, so it will not contain good browsers in general (I assure you, firefox and actually the IE8 would find there place on the blog if so!).
I must say that Glide OS 3.0 is a fantastic creation. 10 GB of storage, media player functions, photo collection, office functions, etc.
First of all the look of Glide is nice. A good overview and good shorcuts. By combining a mediastation, a calendar that looks a lot like the Outlook Calendar and document editors, the Glide OS 3.0 is a brilliant way to have an OPC. Other OOS like Ajax have been seen but not with a finice and user-friendly interface like this program.
Until now the Glide OS 3.0 is the program that fulfills the OPC requirements, and does it very well. Only thing missing is an option of downloading files to the system and run .exe files from here, and installing files in the 10 GB of storage. Another problem may also be to upload a uge among of files. To this you must download a program.
The overall goal is to be able to create an online pc, consisting of websites, that all provide usable software and so, to the use of a concrete pc. There certain objectives that must be followed in the OPC project:
All material must be accessible from the internet.
All material must be functional without need of a download.
All material must be funtional without an installment.
All material must be 100 % free. Only optional is a need of registration.
The pratical goal is to list relevant websites containing material to use in the OPC project. By the blog building all websites/programs will be reviewed and as time goes by an OPC perhaps will appear.
“A computer that functions as a private computer, but is used only through the internet. Storage, performance, quality of sound, grafics, etc. all depend on an internet based computer that is transmuted through the internet to the user, sitting with a screen, a modem and an internetline.”
The idea of this site is two things:
1) A personal overview of usable sites, in relation to the OPC project.
2) An option for internet users to read the authors reviews and collection of OPC material.
